QUESTION (Q): How can I be admitted to the Master of Science in Medical Science (MSMS) Program?

ANSWER (A): You must complete and submit the MSMS Program pre-application for review first. If you meet the program requirements you will be invited to complete an application. Some students who apply to IU School of Medicine's medical program using the American Medical College Application Service may be counseled to consider the MSMS opportunity. You will receive an invitation for an interview if you meet the application requirements for admission to the program. This program is for educationally and economically disadvantage students only. Review program eligibility criteria closely.

Q: What will the MSMS Program cost?
A:
For the 2016-2017 academic year, tuition is $347.14 per credit hour for Indiana residents, and $957.70 per credit hour for non-residents. Direct loans are available through the Office of Medical Student Affairs in Student Financial Services.  Contact Jose Espada for further information at 317-274-1967, or via e-mail at jespada@iupui.edu.

Q: Is participation in the summer Medical College Admission Test Preparation Program required?
A: Yes. All admitted students are required to complete this intensive summer program before starting the graduate MSMS curriculum in the fall semester.

Q: Does participation in the MSMS Program guarantee admission to medical school?
A:
No. Re-application to medical school is required. Faculty and staff advise and assist MSMS students in the application process and preparation for the MCAT.

Q: How can I use the MSMS degree if I don't go to medical School?
A:
MSMS graduates also are prepared for careers requiring broad knowledge in the basic biomedical sciences. Some of the course work in the MSMS Program is transferable toward degree requirements in other graduate or professional programs.
